I've been working with wood for almost 9 years.

With no academic art education, meeting and learning from

the wonderful artist Ayhan Tomak offered me a therapeutic

way to convey my experience.

I feel an endless gratitude toward him.

I find that whatever I'm working on works on me at the same time. It's much like freehand writing; regardless of the starting point, the process of making is where "it" happens, whatever "it" may be.

Sincerity has always been my way. Of course with it comes escapism, delusion and harsh truths. I try to incorporate these in my works as much as the moment allows me.

Another reason I'm doing this is to reach out, I guess.

To invite you to play.

When we hear a birdsong, it's not the song itself that is beautiful.

A birdsong is just sounds a bird makes. Upon hearing it, the beauty that is already present in us resonates with and reacts to it.

So if you hear the birdsong here, let's play.

deniz süberoğlu

Born in 1981 in Gothenburg, Sweden, Deniz lives and works in Ayvalik, Turkey. Working primarily with wood, his practice centers on the slow and intuitive shaping of organic forms, often exploring visual paradoxes and the tension between stillness and movement.

Deniz creates sculptures that arise from a close, responsive

relationship with material. His approach embraces process-based

making, where each piece develops gradually through a

balance of control, accident, and subtle transformation.
